Meet Coach Utah
Landon Anderson built Coach Utah around a problem he lived firsthand: a gap in goalie development. His solution is a system-oriented approach for goalies and parents, coaches, and the organizations behind them.
The Coach Utah Philosophy
Goalies are the most unique position in hockey — and the most underserved. They move differently, think differently, and need a development approach different from any other player on the ice.
Across teams, the same pattern shows up: goalies working hard, but without a defined path for improvement. Feedback varies from coach to coach. Support depends on who’s around them. And development becomes inconsistent from one season—or even one practice—to the next.
Closing the goalie development gap is what Coach Utah is all about.
He's Been in That Crease.
Landon Anderson grew up in Utah with a love for goaltending and a problem most young goalies know well: it was really hard to get consistent, high-quality goalie-specific coaching.
So he left to go find it.
After four years playing junior hockey and developing his game at a higher level, Landon returned home to play ACHA Division 1 hockey as the starting goalie for the University of Utah, where he also earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Business.
His coaching career began during that same period. What started as summer camps in Pittsburgh grew into a full-time coaching role, working with goalies one-on-one and as lead coach at Shane Clifford's Goalie School at the Baierl Ice Center.
Over those years, he kept seeing the same thing in rink after rink, program after program. Goalies were being left out of drills. Coaches didn't know how to address their specific needs. Parents were doing their best with no guidance on how to actually help. And goalies were often getting frustrated, falling behind, or walking away from the position entirely.
That experience became the mission. Coach Utah exists to give every goalie the development environment they deserve AND to equip the coaches and parents around them to be part of the solution.

The Coach Utah Difference
Coach Utah isn't just about the goalie on the ice. It's about everyone in the building.
Goalies develop fastest when coaches, parents, and teammates are all working from the same playbook. When a coach knows how to give goalie-specific feedback as part of team training. When a parent knows how to support at the game and at home. When a goalie walks into practice knowing their development is being taken seriously.
That's the environment Coach Utah builds. Not just better goalies. Better programs.
